Isle of Bags Reserve

The Isle of Bags has been a long running community project. At various times it has involved Nelson Coastcare, the members of the Nelson Reserves Committee of Management, neighbours and the Mens’ Shed. The reserve was bulldozed and we started work there in 2012 facing an empty space.

It has been hard going with rabbits, wallabies, salt water inundation, vandalism and weeds undoing earlier efforts, but it’s looking much better now.

In the first half of 2022, we worked with the Nature Glenelg Trust team to remove the Italian Buckthorn and other woody weeds from the Reserve.
