An Orchid Amble

We had left it a bit late in the season and the day was pretty warm, but we did find orchids and some other plants we faved as well.

Lyn J: “Favourite flower?  The slender blue orchid.  It was lovely to see several of these and to see the blooms open due to the warm weather on the day.  Second choice was when we discovered, right by the track, the small mat rush, so small in size and height.  The grass trees were plentiful and wonderful.  It was a pleasant afternoon spent in the natural bush.”

Trish D: “Best of a bad lot” ie, of photos.  An Austral Bugle and a Hare-orchid.

Evie M: “It was great to see so many different orchids and flowers.  Here are two of my favourite snaps.”

Dan C: “This is my top 10”.  Dan exceeded the brief but they are great photos

  • Milkmaids (Burchardia umbellata)
  • Slender Sun-orchid (Thelymitra pauciflora)
  • Dwarf Mat-rush (Lomandra nana)
  • Austral Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea Australis)
  • Austral Bugle (Ajuga australis)
  • Hare-orchid (Leptoceras menziesii)
  • Wax-Lip Orchid (Glossodia major)
  • Pink Fingers (Caledenia carnea)
  • Tall Sundew (Drosera peltata subsp, auriculata)
  • Donkey Orchid (Diuris orientis)
  • Tall Sundew (Drosera peltata subsp, auriculata)
  • Hare-orchid (Leptoceras menziesii)
  • Milkmaids (Burchardia umbellata)
  • Matted Pratia (Lobelia pedunculata) This photo is a bit cryptic because the surrounding foliage does not belong to the flower. A best guess.
The End
